Today, Steve Jobs would have turned 61 years – on this occasion we recall his best sayings, some of them can easily become a life credo.

one

No one wants to die. Even those who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. Death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent, it clears out the old to make way for the new.

Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.

3

People think it’s this veneer – that the designers are handed this box and told, ‘Make it look good!’ That’s not what we think design is. It’s not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.

four

I don’t care about being right. I care about success and doing the right thing.

five

You can build your own things that other people can use. And once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.

6

When you grow up, you tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into walls too much. Try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money. That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader than that.

7

My model for business is The Beatles. They were four guys who kept each other’s kind of negative tendencies in check. They balanced each other, and the total was greater than the sum of the parts. That’s how I see business: great things in business are never done by one person, they’re done by a team of people.

eight

Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me… Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.

nine

Our goal is to make the best personal computers in the world, not to be the largest company in the world.

ten

When you first start off trying to solve a problem, the first solutions you come up with are very complex, and most people stop there. But if you keep going, and live with the problem and peel more layers of the onion off, you can oftentimes arrive at some very elegant and simple solutions. Most people just don’t put in the time or energy to get there.

eleven

My job is to say when something sucks rather than sugarcoat it.
