Adidas is bringing back a classic silhouette from the ’80s, the New York Knicks superstar Patrick Ewing’s Rivalry Hi, a classic that originally debuted in 1986.
This high-top’s retro release stays true to OG form with a white leather upper, royal blue Three Stripes running down each side panel, a large Trefoil on the heel, and plenty of blue and orange detailing to match the Knicks uniforms.
One notable difference between the original pair and the 2019 release is the slight tweak made to the tongue branding. Ewing is no longer affiliated with Adidas, the “Ewing” on the tongue is replaced by the word “Adidas.”
First and foremost, what crosses many OG sneakerheads’ minds when they hear “1980s basketball shoe” is how much those things used to weigh. The re-release will be way lighter, as they say.
An exact release date and pricing has yet to be announced for the “Knicks” Adidas Rivalry Hi, but expect it to start hitting accounts in the coming months.
