The Carmelo Anthony Experiment is over at Houston Rockets after just 10 games.

Anthony will not rejoin the team although the Rockets do not plan to place him on waivers yet. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey released a statement Thursday saying the team is “parting ways” with Anthony. “Carmelo had a tremendous approach during his time with the Rockets and accepted every role head coach Mike D’Antoni gave him. The fit we envisioned when Carmelo chose to sign with the Rockets has not materialized, therefore we thought it was best to move on as any other outcome would have been unfair to him.”

Because he signed with the Rockets as a free agent this summer, Anthony is not eligible to be traded until after the Dec. 15 trade restriction.

Anthony contributed 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.
